Getting started Flutes

Our choice of student flutes only include those flutes we judge to be easy to play, in tune and robust. Unless advised by your teacher, we recommend the very versatile and robust Yamaha YFL211 flute, closely followed by the Jupiter flute. For the careful owner, the Pearl makes an excellent choice.
For our very youngest players we suggest the Jupiter Prodigy flute with its curved headjoint and reduced keywork. We offer a unique "instrument for life" scheme that allows you to upgrade in the future with predictable part-exchange values. See here for details.
We do not stock openhole student flutes.

Wood, Wind and Reed aim to make buying and owning an instrument easy and enjoyable. We choose the best products available to save you time and money. All instruments are tested and adjusted before sale and our reputation for pre and post sales service is the envy of our trade.

With such an extensive catalogue we do not promise to keep all goods in stock all the time. We do keep about 9000 titles of music in stock, hundreds of ligatures, double reeds, cleaners, cases and other accessories we can therefore get the majority of orders dispatched within 48 hours.

Our extensive selection of student and professional instruments will require final inspection, adjustment and testing so please allow around 5 working days for dispatch.
