Sax mouthpieces - a wide array of choices are available.
Quality ebonite rubber mouthpieces produce a rounder and more rewarding sound than typical student mouthpieces and will help give a better overall performance for the improving player. By the time a beginner reaches grade 4-5 standard they are usually ready to make this upgrade.
Metal mouthpieces, often associated with jazz styles, are also available and will help to produce greater brilliance and volume, often referred to as 'edge'.
Most saxophone players will own 2 or more mouthpieces to play their best in all styles of music.
Some of our customers will know exactly what they want, so please search or browse and then buy online. Others will need more help. As a quick guide some of the best all round alto sax mouthpieces ever made are the Selmer C* and C**, the Vandoren Optimum AL3 andAL4, the Rousseau New Classic 4 and 5, the Meyer 5MM and 6MM and the Yanagisawa metal 6 and 7. Equivalent mouthpieces are available for most saxophones. Many further options are also available.
